Walks And Walking – Cornwall Walks – The Polperro Walking Route to Looe along the South West Coastal Path
The Polperro to Looe walking route is another great walk along the South West Coastal Path (SWC Path). Cornwall offer such amazing coastal walks and this is certainly one of them. Whilst Polperro is a marvellous sleepy coastal village full of beautiful buildings and narrow streets (that always seem to lead to a lovely welcoming pub), Looe is still a working port but still retains just as much charm as it’s neighbours.
It was a clear but windy day so I decided on walking shorts and kept my windproof walking jacket on, keeping a few extra layers in my rucksack as we set off in our trusty walking boots.

From the small harbour area we truned left to head easterly up a very steep path passing plenty of benches as we headed up to the edge of the cliff to Downend Rock and then along to Downend Point to then walk passed the War Memorial. This is such an easy walk to follow as we just continued along the South West Coastal Path stopping only to catch our breath and take a few photographs.
Continuing along the path we then reached the small bay walking through and passing the car park and public conveniences to walk up the road to then turn right and back on to the South West Coastal Path and enjoying the views of Talland Bay heading back out to walk passed Aesop’s Bed, Hore Stone and around to Bridge Rocks where we then headed inwards at Portnadler Bay with Looe Island now in view to our right, out to sea.
Walking onwards now we then followed the South West Coastal Path to Samphire Beach, Wallace Beach and then entering Hannafore and the road that would now take us in to West Looe. We continued along the road as it bends around to the left as you enter Looe Harbour below to now walk steeply down until we reached some steps that took us down to the sea wall.

At the sea wall we met Loo’s most famous resident; Nelson the Sealion. We then walked along the sea wall until we reached the bridge where we crossed and walked in to the village to find the nearest pub to celebrate our 7 miles covered in just under 3 hours.
